TGIF | for the love of a Friday wedding

Friday weddings have grown in popularity over the last several years, but they still tend to draw up

quite the controversy when convincing parents or peers to get on board.

I (not so) secretly think Friday weddings are one of the keys to happiness and I want to share with you why.

As an event planner, venue manager, and wedding guest. Here are my quick top 6 reasons

I am in support of a big, fat, Friday wedding:

  1. Price - did you know that most venues and some vendors too, have different pricing for non-peak days? It’s true - I bet if you look into it you will find you can shave a little something off your budget in this area which means you can add it to something way more fun!

  2. Time - More time with friends + fam - this is especially the case if you have a lot of guests traveling in from out of town. The reality is most of those people will have to take a day off of work anyways, this way you can plan an entire weekend of fun things like a brunch or day exploring the city with all of your best people. Plus, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a 3-day weekend?

  3. Rehearsal - Planning your rehearsal is a breeze! We all know a Thursday evening out is unmatched and you will be way more likely to get a reservation at the hottest spot in town.

  4. Availability - Let’s face it, Saturday’s book up. Being open and flexible to a Friday event, means you can have the season and weekend of your choice, especially if you aren’t someone that wants to spend the next 2-3 years planning a wedding.

  5. Photos - Photography lighting is totally bomb the later it gets. Go ahead and have that golden hour ceremony or the sunset photos you see in magazines. You have all night to party and all the next day to recover.

  6. Set-Up - No rush here - you might even get an extra day! If a space doesn’t have something else going on, you are way more likely to be able to get in early and get all of your major set-up work done ahead of time. Take all the time you need and enjoy your weekend - it’s going to be great no matter what day of the week it is.

Just remember, the people you are including want to celebrate you and will do so on whatever day you choose - plus, we all know we actually love an excuse to take an extra day off of work ;)
